What is SilverRise?
SilverRise is a creative enrichment program designed especially for older adults, bringing together art, reflection, and meaningful connection.
Through guided creative activities, conversation, and reflection, participants are invited to explore, express themselves, capture their experiences in a personal journal and connect with others in meaningful ways.
SilverRise is designed for older adults with a wide range of interests, experiences, and comfort levels
with creativity. No previous art experience is needed -- only a willingness to explore.
The SilverRise Experience
Creativity is for everyone.
Every SilverRise experience is thoughtfully designed to help
participants feel welcome, curious, and excited to create.
Through guided creative exploration, personal choice, reflection, and conversation,
participants are encouraged to discover possibilities, express themselves and make each experience their own.
More Than Making Something
In SilverRise, the creative process matters just as much as what is created.
A color may spark a memory. A question may lead to a story. Someone else’s idea may inspire a new one.
A simple creative choice may become an unexpected moment of discovery.
There is no expectation to be an artist and no single “right” outcome.
Participants are encouraged to explore at their own pace,
make their own choices, and bring their own perspective to the experience.
Creativity has no age limit. Neither does possibility.
The SilverRise Journal
A Creative Journey to Keep
Each SilverRise participant creates within a personal journal—
a place for art, reflection, memories, ideas, and discoveries to take shape over time.
Rather than focusing only on a finished project, the journal becomes part of the experience itself;
a space to experiment, make choices, capture meaningful moments, and return to what has been created along the way.
Page by page, each journal becomes uniquely their own.
The Rhythm of SilverRise
Each SilverRise experience has its own rhythm, with these moments naturally woven throughout.
ARRIVE
Welcome & Settle In
Participants are welcomed into a relaxed, inviting space with time to settle in, look around, and become curious about what’s ahead. There is no pressure to perform or get anything “right”—just an invitation to be present, explore, and begin.
CONNECT
Open the Conversation
A simple prompt, image, object, story, or theme invites curiosity and conversation. Participants are invited to notice, remember, wonder, and respond--sharing as much or as little as they choose. There are no right answers; each perspective becomes part of the experience.
CREATE
Guided Creative Exploration
Participants are gently guided through a creative experience while being encouraged to make their own choices along the way. Rather than working toward one "right" result, they can experiment, follow their curiosity, and discover what unfolds through the process.
REFLECT
Pause & Discover
Throughout the creative process, participants are invited to pause, notice, and reflect on what is emerging. A color, image, creative choice, or gentle prompt may spark a memory, feeling, story or new perspective. There is no expectation that the experience has to mean something--only an invitation to notice what arises.
SHARE
Share & Be Seen
Participants are invited to share as much—or as little—as they choose about what they've created or discovered along the way. This is not about critique or comparison. It is an opportunity to listen, learn more about one another, appreciate the different ideas, stories, and perspective each person brings.
CLOSE
Carry Something With You
Each SilverRise experience comes to a thoughtful close with an opportunity to appreciate what was created, discovered, and shared. A final thought, word, affirmation, or moment of reflection that allows participants to recognize something they may want to carry with them beyond the experience.
